Favorite Spot

Not quite sure why I'm posting this, but here it is. This has become by far Olive's favorite spot in the house, especially in the mornings.

I have to say, despite my well documented reservations, she's been a terrific addition to our home and family. Allergy issues related to her arrival have been non-existent, a fact that was confirmed about a week ago when seasonal allergies (and their resulting misery) kicked in with a vengeance. Nothing like that from our little ball of Siberian fur.

Another thing I've been wanting to post, for no particular reason, is the curious way Olive drinks. She does occasionally take a conventional sip, but seems to prefer dipping a paw into her little bowl and then "drinking" the water off of her appendage. Either approach is fine with us, except when she leans up on the bowl to get a better angle and spills its contents all over the floor.

Here's a little visual progression of her interesting hydration process.

What an interesting way to drink ones water. But to each his own, I suppose.
He really is a cute kitty, though. :]

"I think that cat is perfect" hee hee. I've seen a cat I once had drink water like that...but not regularily. Cats like weird resting places and usually near sinks. Quirky beings. Congrats on getting an adorable one.

I have a lot of cats in my life - never saw one do that. That is pretty cool - she is just adorable! So glad she has wormed her way into your heart!

Hard to even express how adorable Olive's antics are. She looks so earnest! I love kittens more than just about anything, and this post was so great. Your girls might be interested in the story of Lexi, latest post at my blog. Sorry it is such a long post, my longest by far, but her story weaves through lives and situations that required it.

I'm so glad you posted this perfect tidbit.

I just tried Oliver's technique here at the office...it's not very effective, in case you're wondering, but it's worth the interesting stares that one receives from their coworkers!

i just have to say, i keep coming back to your blog not only to see your adorable kitten from time to time ;o), but just to enjoy your writing. you make the most creative and enjoyable use of the English language that i've ever seen. i only wish i could express myself as eloquently as you do. but you inspire me to keep trying. you have one amazing gift.

Olive is so sweet and cute.

Sometimes it is the most reluctant pet owners who fall in love the hardest. I talked my hubby into getting our dog, and they adore each other so much that I maintain I am sure to get into heaven just for bringing them together.

My cat Robyn has a little similarity with your cutie Olive. She dips her paw into her water and instead of drinking" the water off of her appendage (like Olive) she straight away drink the water as much as she wants.
Perhaps it is one of the cat natures / behaviours.
