Is it just me, or do late-stage Bleeding Hearts start to look an awful lot like space aliens? Just thought I would share this curious little transformation.
We've been double-locking the kitchen door just in case these guys get any ideas, and Olive has been put on high alert. No issues so far.

heart-bleeding..
mmm...looked a bit different to me too....still like it....
thanx for sharing these pics with us :))
actually, i think they look more like turtles than they look like space aliens.
perfection...
Those are beautiful...if I may ask what part of the world do you live that those are growing wild?
What does the entire plant look like? I'd love to have one of these in my yard.
:-)
I think your title is very creative.
Ooof. Thank goodness for Olive, the guard kitten.
Everyone should have one! :)
(Still no alergy issues?)
Your blog never fails to keep me intersted! Thanks & keep blogging.
Nicole
Sorry - late with the responses here...
Leslie - we are in the Northeast U.S.
Charlie - the plant looks like a little bush, with vines growing out of the green leafy center, and along those vines hang the rows of hearts. It's a relatively small plant that would likely be missed entirely if not for the flowering.
oh, wow, you have no idea what a big mystery you just solved for me! i was born and brought up in Florida and visited Toronto last week. Well, these little flowers were everywhere and nobody I knew could tell me what they were!! Sigh, I feel so much better now. BTW, I love your blog.
