Favorite Spot (Volume Two)

Just a quick update to Volume One. This is Olive's new favorite spot in the house, on her little perch, and definitely with the window open. Over the last few weeks the lure of the kitchen floor and its radiant heat has waned, for obvious reasons, and this seems likely to be the deal through at least October. Fine with us.

We can assume this photo was taken when the girls were at school or otherwise engaged, because that's when Olive is able to enjoy some downtime, in between being chased and carried through every room in the house.

Unfortunately, her fragile neck muscles are still not capable of withstanding treatment like this, or this, not to mention this, this, or even this, but we're working on it and have high hopes for capturing and posting a whole array of madcap images in the coming months.

Wow! She's grown since the last picture I saw of her. So peaceful ;)

Olive has a gorgeous tail! She sure is a healthy and beautiful young cat.

Tricks. I taught two of my cats to fetch and bring back small crinkly, noisy items. Really not that difficult if you have a cat that wants to engage in play with you (and is a show-off). I crinkled the toy to make noise, and threw it. When kitties ran to play I followed, picking kitty up in one hand and the toy in the other - held directly near cat's mouth. When we arrived back at my beginning spot, I praised and praised kitty. Before long, the toys were brought back to me. I'd say it took about 1-2 months of daily playtime, and not exhausting amounts of time each. One of the fetch-cats was Thunder, a gray female that resembled Olive very much (late 70's). The other was Bleecker, my favorite cat who died 2 years ago at age 16, a most perfect boy if there ever was one. Losing him is why I'm so grateful to have Shiva - new love in our lives, and this reminds me: maybe she'd like to learn the fetch game!

Wow she is definately a 'cat' now - not a kitten anymore.

Am I allowed to show off my little beauty as well? Thats Ghillie, the princess in our household.

Your girls must love the interaction with Olive - I got a kitten for my 6th birthday and I remember my dad saying we should have got a cat with a handle on it, since I carried him around so much.
