Virtual Animal Cruelty

Ava, riding in the car tonight, apropos of nothing:

"Dad? I need to go on the computer sometime soon, 'cause one of my Webkinz doesn't have a bed in their room, and they've been awake for, like, two years. I'm serious, Dad, and it's not even funny. I need to go on there soon and get them a bed, so they can go to sleep, OK? Quickly."

Cute!

We have Littlest Pet Shop VIPs but I'm sure the Webkinz will be not far behind...

My daughter has about 6 of them. I love the toilet and bathtub. She thinks it is a riot that they pee with their clothes on. Truth be known, I play with the site when she's not home. Sooo much better than Barbie's ever were!

What's a webkinz?

Well, I've actually never heard of Webkinz, but it sounds a lot like a more advanced version of those virtual pets that were all the rage a few years ago. I remember I would say the same sort of things when I played with him--er, it. I guess some things never change.

Let that girl play with her webkinz! i have one, and I'm old. LOL. They are the cutest. I bought mine the ride around toys and I love to garden with them. Much less work than real gardening! I have been reading your blog for a few days now and have found it light and entertaining and refreshing. I will be back!

So my wife and I are getting ready to have kids…she really wants them but I’m still kind of on the fence. The conversations that you have with your kids are hilarious though and make me a little more ready to have my own. Thanks for sharing all of this...you have an unique sense of humor that's really funny.

hahaha I am LAUGHING!

I'm naturally from Portugal, just got married, living in the States right now.
When I first met my husbands family, there was (our) niece... and she said KIND OF the same thing your daughter said!...
At first I was like, (what?)...
When she grabbed me by the hand... and pulled me to the computer room, to show me, her elephant, her toilet... her bear...
You HAVE to admit... WOW! Things have changed! But it's great that they did...
I ended up helping her out @ webkinz...
... she made me make an "Account" for myself and everything!
(oh Lord, *embarrassed* hahaha)

Fun...

Great Blog!

Keep the posts coming...

Your insight towards the end on what youngsters might be learning because of webkinz was what made the blog. It's nice to read about a parent that looks forward to being involved and teaching with their children at any level.

My daugther advanced from NeoPets to Webkinz recently. Now that is all she wants to do is get on the computer and play with her pets - though we have four real dogs and one real cat that go neglected half the time....

I'm 57 and after losing my 16-year-old, most favorite cat a year ago my husband surprised me with a 'Lil Webkinz (the smaller variety). It is a gold-and-white kitty and looks just like my cat did when I first got him. This is true: creating a safe, cozy Webkinz world for my "pet" (including two bedrooms with beds)really assisted in my healing process. I think Webkinz would be beneficial in counseling situations and in medical facilities, especially those serving terminal patients.

OMG - get that Webkinz a bed, or the next thing you know your neighbor will be calling the police telling them you are an animal abuser and all-round delinquent. Before you know it you have protesters outside your house and your lawyer is telling you which part of Sing-Sing is the safest.

That's cute! My grandson is only 1 year old, so I don't to deal with Webkinz yet. Could be fun though. We are still working on the itsy bitsy spider!

I remember when my daughter had a Tamagotchi years ago and she couldn't leave the house without it. Life would almost stand still as we waited for her to finish 'feeding' it.

Now she's 17 and has a boyfriend.

Not much has changed, it seems. :)

so i really enjoy your posts, and i am brand new to the blogger. how do i add you as a friend or subscribe or whatever?

thankyou dad.

Just use one of the subscription options that appear in the upper right-hand section of the home page.

If you have an RSS reader, click on that section to add this blog to your feed. If not, there's an e-mail option. It's been my experience that RSS is better and more immediate. Feedburner e-mails take a while, assuming they show up.

Thanks for stopping by, and for your interest!

My cousin has a Webkinz, and she was obsessed with it. And, by the way, Webkinz don't die, they just expire after a year. Make sure to tell your daughter!

Check out my blog and comment?
